WITN Teacher Of The Week: Heather Scott

January 22, 2014 Heather Scott graduated from East Carolina University in 2009 with two degrees, in mathematics education and mathematics.

She started her career at Washington High School and says she has enjoyed her first five years teaching there. She was the school’s teacher of the year and Beaufort County’s runner-up teacher of the year for the 2012-2013 school year.

She currently serves as Math department chair, National Honor Society advisor, freshman advisor, and vice chair of the school improvement team. Scott was nominated by two students.

One person wrote she nominated Scott “for the hard work she puts in every week to make sure her students are learning in the best way, and also for the great amount of dedication she has for helping her students succeed.” Another wrote: “I want to be like you— smart, interesting and engaging, positive, confident, yet unpretentious.”
