WEATHER ALERT: Strong Storms Impact Eastern Carolina, Some Trees Down

Strong storms are moving through parts of Eastern Carolina.

Quarter-sized hail and winds in excess of 58 miles per hour are possible with these storms.

Pitt County officials say Forlines Road is closed between Frog Level and Speight Seed Farm Road because of trees down. Hail was reported east of Ayden.

Storms will be possible in Eastern Carolina through evening.

Stay with for the latest.

After the cold front passes, temperatures will fall to near 70 overnight. Wednesday will feel a lot less humid, with highs still hanging in the mid to upper 80s, making for a comfortable late summer day. Expect mostly sunny skies from Wednesday through each day of the work week.
