Man accused of flying drone near chopper gets case continued

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - The man accused of intimidating someone, who authorities say saw him flying his drone near a medical helicopter, had his case continued on Wednesday.

27-year-old Justin Chillo was arrested for flying his drone above the helicopter pad at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville on January 22nd, and then again on January 25th.

Part of his $20,000 bond included a condition saying he couldn't have contact with a witness in the case.

But a warrant shows, he went to the woman's residence and posted a video of him being there, on social media.

His bond was increased to $100,000.

Outside the courtroom, Chillo told us his case had been continued.

Justin Chillo was charged Saturday with a second count of interference with manned aircraft by unmanned aircraft system, as well as intimidation of a witness.

Originally, the 27-year-old was charged with flying his Phantom 3 drone above the helicopter pad at Vidant Medical Center on January 25th. Now, he's been charged with a second offense that happened three days earlier.

Warrants say on the witness intimidation charge, Chillo on Saturday is accused of driving by the Vidant police station and taking a picture of the witness' vehicle. Later, he sent her a text saying "I will do what I have to do to protect myself," according to the warrant.

Chillo's bond was set at $20,000 on the new charges. As part of his bond, the man cannot have any contact with the witness which includes any social media or third party contact. Court records say if that does happen, the man's bond jumps to $100,000.
