Greenville Veterans Come Together For "Christmas Cheer Challenge"

Several veterans groups in Greenville came together Tuesday to support the charitable efforts of one of their own.

Jeff Sanborn, a retired Pitt County Marine and his wife Cindy are raising money and accepting donations of toys and coats for kids in New Jersey still struggling after Hurricane Sandy.

The Sanborns are calling it "Christmas Cheer Challenge." They say after viewing video of Union Beach, New Jersey where they have friends, they felt compelled to act. Their goal is to provide unwrapped toys and gift cards to the children of 15 families still living in a shelter.

Tuesday representatives from the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Marine Corps League and the VFW, each donated $200.00 to help jump start the campaign.

Donations will be accepted until December 14th and the Sanborns will be delivering the donations after the 15th.

To get involved you can friend "Christmas Cheer Challenge" on facebook.
