Nearly a dozen vehicles were broken into while parked in employee parking lots at Vidant Medical Center.
Spokeswoman Beth Anne Atkins says Vidant Company Police discovered Thursday morning that 11 vehicles were broken into at a couple of employee lots of the Vidant Medical Center campus.
Atkins says suspects have been identified, and the investigating is on-going.
The hospital says these are the first vehicle break-ins since July 1st. That's when the hospital reduced the number of sworn police officers from 37 to 18, while increasing the number of security guards.
Vidant says its campus is patrolled 24 hours a day, and the lots affected with the break-ins were patrolled during the overnight.
