Unfriendly To Families? U.S. Forest Service Considers Ban On Alcohol

View Map

There could be a ban on alcohol in one part of the Croatan National Forest after complaints of drunken behavior.

The U.S. Forest Service is considering banning alcohol at Fisher Landing Recreation Area. The location is off U.S. 70 along the Neuse River, east of New Bern.

The Forest Service says visitors have complained to them about the behavior, making the area unfriendly to families. There has also been damage to facilities tied to alcohol-related problems at Fisher Landing.

They are considering a five-year ban on alcohol.

The Forest Service is seeking public input on the proposal until September 4th.
