U.S. Forest Service Closing "Unsafe" Roads In Croatan National Forest

The U.S. Forest Service is closing three roads at the Croatan National Forest, saying they're unsafe for the public to use.

The agency is closing Seaborn Road, Horse Island Road, and Georgia Pacific Road, effective immediately.

The Forest Service says they've made repairs in recent years, but that they're nearly impassable because of continued destructive uses such as mudding.

The closure is expected to last five years.

During that time, the roads will be evaluated for repair needs.
