FIRST ON WITN: Cherry Point Marines Jailed For Greenville Shooting

Three Cherry Point Marines have been jailed on attempted murder and conspiracy charges after a shooting in Greenville last weekend.

Corporal David Lorevil, Private First Class Johnny Tidwell, both 21, and 20-year-old Corporal Dominix Fonzie are being held at the Pitt County Detention Center. Online records show they made court appearances Monday.

Cherry Point confirmed with WITN all three men are stationed there and are assigned to units with 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.

Lorevil is facing several charges including felony attempted first-degree murder, firing a weapon into an occupied dwelling or moving car, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill- inflicting serious injury.

Fonzie and Tidwell are facing two county of felony conspiracy.

Greenville police say the shooting happened March 23rd near the intersection of East 12th and Forbes streets.

They say Victor Barrett was shot in the leg while he was a passenger in a car driven by Timeeka Tyson.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a possible dispute inside the Phoenix nightclub and that the three Marines say the victim's car at the Sheetz gas station on Charles Boulevard. They believe the three followed the two onto Forbes Street where they used a car to block in the woman's car.

Detectives do not believe the victims knew the three Marines.
