UPDATE: 2 Men Killed, 1 Injured Identified In Boating Mishap Near Edenton

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has identified 2 people killed, and one injured in a boat accident Friday afternoon.

Officials say that 50-year-old Daniel Manke of Hertford and 48-year-old Blaine Weyant were killed in the accident on the Yeopim River near Edenton. The boat is said to have ran aground.

Also injured was 47-year-old Edward White of Hertford. White was taken to Albermarle Hospital in Elizabeth City where he was treated and released.

The investigation by Wildlife officials is ongoing.

Two people are dead and a third injured after a boating accident in Eastern Carolina.

The U.S. Coast Guard says a boat reportedly ran aground on the Yeopim River east of Edenton around 1:45 p.m. Friday. The river boarders Chowan and Perquimans counties.

Three people were onboard the boat, according to the Coast Guard. A boat and helicopter from Elizabeth City, as well as the Harvey Point Rescue responded to the scene.

The injured boat was hoisted onto the Jayhawk helicopter and flown to the Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City.

No word yet on what caused the mishap nor the names of those injured or killed. The Chowan County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident.
