A spilled log load shut down a Beaufort County highway for a couple of hours Monday.
The crash happened at the intersection of U.S. 17 and North Carolina 171, north of Washington late Monday morning.
State troopers say the log truck was heading north on 17, and was going too fast to make the right turn onto 171.
The fully loaded truck overturned, spilling the logs onto the highway.
Traffic on Highway 171 was being detoured through a nearby church parking lot while crews cleaned up the mess.
The Highway Patrol says James Midgette of Bayboro, who was sent to Vidant Beaufort Hospital, is facing charges.
The log truck is owned by Clay Hill Trucking of Vanceboro.
