Trustees Okay Higher Tuition, Fees For ECU Students

Medical and dental students at ECU may be paying more to attend the university if a plan okayed today by trustees gets the final approval.

The Board of Trustees on Friday also approved raising tuition for out-of-state undergrads by 6%.

Tuition for the Brody School of Medicine would increase $2,000, and the School of Dental Medicine would increase $713 beginning in the 2014-2015 academic year.

The board also approved fee increases for all students, beginning in the 2015-16 academic year, to help fund two new student centers on campus. The increase, a maximum of $425, will be phased in over three years.

The UNC Board of Governors must now approve the increases.
