Troopers: Driver Killed In Pitt County Accident After Running Stop Sign

The Highway Patrol says that a driver is dead after they ran a stop sign and were struck by an SUV.

The Highway Patrol says that a driver is dead after they ran a stop sign and were struck by an SUV.

The investigating Trooper says that a Chevy Lumina passenger car, driven by 48-year-old Larry Dickens of Greenville, was traveling west on Old River Road in Belvoir just before 12:37 p.m. Saturday.

Officials say that Dickens failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with NC-222. Troopers say that a Jeep SUV traveling north on NC-222, t-boned the driver’s side of Dicken’s vehicle. Official's say Dicken's died as a result of the accident.

The driver of the SUV was treated and released from the hospital, according to troopers.

Troopers say that there will be no charges in the accident.
