Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident in Onslow County after an older man is said to have drove into oncoming traffic.
Troopers out of Jackonsville say that it happened around 7:25 this morning on Highway 24, when 75-year old Bruce George driving a Toyota heading east in the west bound lane, crashed head on into a Honda driven by Nicole Zimmerman. George is said to have taken a left from Piney Green road into the west bound lane of Highway 24.
Troopers say George was pronounced dead at the scene.
Zimmerman was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Vidant Medical Center.
Alcohol is not suspected in the accident according to troopers. They are awaiting a toxicology report from the medical examiner.
