Trailer Comes Loose And Hits Woman's Car Head On In Onslow County

An Onslow County woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a detached trailer slammed into her car head on Friday morning.

Troopers say 35-year-old Linda Whitehurst of Richlands was airlifted to a Wilmington hospital shortly after 7:00 Friday morning. Troopers say while she is in critical condition, she is expected to recover.

Lawmen say Michael Miller was driving his Dodge Ram pickup truck northbound on Cypress Creek Road near South Bryan Road and was hauling a utility trailer. Troopers say the trailer detached, crossed the center line and crashed into Whitehurst, who was driving southbound in her Toyota Corolla.

Miller, a 22 year old from Richlands, was not hurt. He was charged with failure to secure a trailer and for having an unregistered trailer.
