A tractor trailer fire on the U.S. 17 bypass in Jacksonville caused traffic delays early Friday afternoon.
Jacksonville police say it happened near the Louis Sewell Bridge that crosses the New River. Lanes heading south toward Wilmington were backed up for about two hours.
The fire involved a tractor trailer loaded down with bales of corrugated cardboard and paper that somehow caught fire.
The fire department says possibly a cigarette or something mechanical on the truck caused the fire. There were no injuries.
