Viewing Today For Slain Woman In Wilson

Family and friends will remember Courtney Speight in Wilson Friday night, while her ex-boyfriend remains in jail, charged with her murder.

A viewing is planned at Hamilton Funeral Home for Speight from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m Friday. Her funeral is Saturday at 2 p.m.

Donald Davis, 45, meanwhile, remains behind bars, charged with Speight's murder. Her body was found last week in Contentnea Creek in Wilson.

Speight was 23 years old.

Wilson police say they have made an arrest in the death of a missing woman.

Donald Davis was charged this afternoon with the murder of Courtney Speight. The woman's family tells WITN News that Davis is the woman's ex-boyfriend.

The 23-year-old woman was last seen Saturday and authorities put out missing person alert on Tuesday. Her body was found the next day in Contentnea Creek.

Davis, who is 45 years old, was arrested at a home on Hill Street. He's being held without bond.

The Pitt County Medical Examiner's Office says a body found Wednesday in a Wilson creek is that of a missing woman.

Courtney Speight was last seen Saturday. The woman's body was found Wednesday morning in Contentnea Creek by a fisherman, while her 2006 Nissan Altima was found Thursday.

On Wednesday, family members told WITN that they believed the body found in the creek belonged to Speight.

The Medical Examiner's Office says they have yet to determine how the woman died.

In Wilson, detectives still have not said if a body found Wednesday morning is that of a woman who's been missing since the weekend, But they did say Thursday they found the car of 23-year-old Courtney Speight.

Speight has been missing since August 11th. Her 2006 Nissan Altima was found in Wilson Thursday. A body was found Wednesday morning in Contentnea Creek.

Speight's family members tell WITN after meeting with investigators Wednesday, they fear the body found is that of Speight.


Wilson police need your help locating a missing woman.

Officers say 23-year-old Courtney Ann Speight was last seen on Saturday around 11:50pm at 504 Bruton Street in Wilson.

Police say it is not typical for the woman to leave for long periods of time or miss work.

Speight was last seen wearing a black Sheetz t-shirt, blue and red jogging pants, and black/red Nike shoes.

According to her Facebook page, she worked at Sheetz. Her last post stated she was studying for the "ASVABS" which is the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test.

Police say Speight is driving a 2006 blue Nissan Altima with NC Registration AFR-8341.
