Tarboro Man Sentenced 41 Years For Assault, Burglary

A Greenville man gets a 41-year prison sentence for the December 2013 burglary and assault on Bruce Strickland Road.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Jemond Dickens of Tarboro entered the residence and assaulted the victim with a shotgun by beating him in the head, then tying him up.

The sheriff's office says the victim placed an ad on Craigslist and a woman responded. That woman and three others, including Dickens, showed up, entered the home and assaulted the man.

With the assistance of the Pinetops Police Department, warrants were issued on January 2 and Dickens was arrested on January 8.

On Wednesday, Dickens received a sentence of 41 years.

Dickens has been in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $101,000 secured bond.

The three other suspects have yet to go to court.
