Trooper C.J. Matos with the Onslow County Highway Patrol said a woman turned in front of a deputy before he could hit the brakes.

It happened at 7 p.m. on Tuesday along Highway 53 near the intersection with Blue Creek School Road.

Trpr. Matos said 21-year-old Sarah Gillespie was turning into the Sherwood Mobile Home Park, and turned in front of an on coming patrol car driven by Onslow County Sheriff's Deputy, Gilbert Delarosa.

Matos said Delarosa did not have enough time to stop, and hit the back, right panel of Gillespie's car, sending his patrol vehicle into the ditch.

While both cars were totaled, Matos said neither driver was injured in the wreck.

Gillespie now faces a charge of failure to yield right of way.
