TROOPERS: Mother And Son Taken To Hospital After Run In With Train

Troopers say a mother and son were transported to the hospital, after their vehicle was struck by a train.

It happened around 4:15 Thursday afternoon in Edgecombe County, between Tarboro and Conetoe.

The Highway Patrol says Amanda Starr Reagin had just turned off U.S. 64 alternate and onto a private drive when the accident occurred.

Trooper S.A. McFarland says Reagin's 6-year-old son was sitting in the front passenger seat when the car's right passenger side was truck by the train.

According to troopers, the mother and son were taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with non-life threatening injuries.

Vidant says Reagin was treated and released. No word on her son's condition or if he is still in the hospital. No injuries were reported from anyone on the train.
