Sherri Cox is the Teacher Of The Week for Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
Sherri is currently a second grade teacher at Mattamuskeet Elementary School in Swan Quarter in Hyde County. She says "Mattamuskeet Elementary School has the very best students and staff in the world and they make going to work each day so enjoyable."
Sherri has a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Elementary Education, both from East Carolina University. She has been teaching for 11 years and has taught first grade and second grade. Sherri also wrote: "As a teacher, I feel that it is important to always be a leader, a motivator, and an encourager. I believe that my students are successful because I work hard to build their self esteem and confidence. I push them to be accountable for their learning and to put forth their best effort in all they do. Every child can learn and it is my duty to nurture the talents and dreams of my students today, so they can improve tomorrow. A student is only as successful as the expectations we set for them, so I am dedicated to set high expectations and expect great success!"
The person who nominated Sherri wrote: "This teacher jumped leaps and bound for my child's education... She treated my daughter as if she was her own... Mrs. Cox is not at Mattamuskeet Elementary School for just a paycheck, she is there for what she calls her "kids" education."
