Lizabeth Tiger of Williamston Primary School is the WITN Teacher of the Week for March 27th, 2013.

Tiger graduated from Northern State University in South Dakota with majors in Elementary Education, Psychology and Sociology. Lizabeth then taught various grade levels K-8 and coached basketball, track and cross country for 12 years in South Dakota. She moved to North Carolina in 2004 and has been teaching first grade at Williamston Primary School.

She writes: "I especially enjoy the collaborative efforts of all staff at Williamston Primary school and am active in county-wide curriculum development teams, PBIS, school improvement, intervention data committees, and parent involvement activities."

Tiger also received her National Board Teacher Certification in 2011.

The person who nominated Lizabeth wrote: "Ms. Tiger is an amazing educator and valuable asset to Williamston Primary School, where she teaches first grade. She is a veteran teacher who has experience with various grade levels ranging from primary grades to high school. She serves on many boards and committees for her school. Ms. Tiger provides experience and training to intern teachers from local colleges/universities and also serves as a mentor for first year teachers in the school. Her outlook on diversity and acceptance creates a warm and caring environment in the classroom, making students feel safe and loved and creating a place where learning can occur."
