TEACHER OF THE WEEK: Kathy Dosser From Belvoir Elementary

WITN'S Teacher of the Week for November 14 is Kathy Dosser from Belvoir Elementary in Pitt County. She teaches in the NC Pre-K Program.

Kathy has been teaching and working with children for 34 years. She was an undergraduate at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina and also attended the University of Georgia and ECU for her masters. Her degrees are in special education with an emphasis on teaching young children. She currently teaches in the NC Pre-K program at Belvoir Elementary in Pitt County.

Kathy writes, "My teaching journey has brought many challenges but immense satisfaction. Teaching four year olds is definitely awesome! They are intensely eager learners and it is my joy to see them accomplish so much before they begin kindergarten."

Kathy is retiring in December after her more than three decades in education.

The person who nominated Kathy was her daughter, Kate. Kate wrote about her mother: "She loves her job and will go out of her way to help her students. There have been many of times when I'm visiting her class or we are even out around Greenville and she sees her previous students, they always come running up and give her a hug. Most recently one of her students from many years ago is about to graduate high school and he came back to visit her and thank her for all she did. That meant the world to her and she loves to see her students succeed."
