Congratulations to WITN's Teacher of the Week for Wednesday, March 4, 2014:Elizabeth Budd of Duplin County. She is in her second year of teaching at Wallace Elementary School where she teaches fifth grade science and social studies. She is a graduate of UNCW and was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow.
"As holds true for many teachers, I knew I wanted to teach at a young age," Budd says. "I played school with my friends as a child and throughout life dreamed of one day having my own classroom. I was fortunate enough to have amazing teachers and mentors throughout my life to help encourage me to obtain this goal. It is not just grading papers and smiling at the students, but having the ability to wear multiple hats throughout a day and successfully shape and educate your students along the way."
The parent who nominated Budd wrote, "It is a real pleasure to see my daughter excited about going to school. She is very excited each day to see what Ms. Budd will be teaching about each day. She has a passion for her students and makes each learning experience exciting and fun. My daughter has enjoyed going to school this year. As a parent, it thrills me to see her excited about school and learning new things."
