TEACHER OF THE WEEK: Dana Melton, From Creekside Elementary

Dana Melton is this week’s “Teacher of the Week.”

She is a first grade teacher at Creekside Elementary School in Winterville.

Dana went to Meredith College in Raleigh. She attained her K-12 AIG certification from ECU and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Scranton.

Dana has been teaching since 2001. She taught second grade at Roanoke Rapids Graded School District in Halifax County before coming to Creekside.

Dana has a baby girl on the way! She lives in Pitt County with her husband and two dogs.

Dana believes making a difference in a child’s life can positively impact their future and give them the foundation needed to be successful.

The parent who nominated Dana said she is the perfect person to get this award for all the hard work she does every day, for her patience and kindness to her students and her willingness to help children who face difficulties get the best education possible.
