There's a new mayor for the City of Greenville. Allen Thomas was sworn in on Monday afternoon.
Allen Thomas won the nomination from former Mayor Pat Dunn.
Thomas said following his swearing in, "Well i'm going to work very closely with the new city council. I'm excited about the group we have here and we've got a number of challenges in the city. The economy is difficult, we're not going to ignore that, we're going to try and go out and bring jobs to the city and work really hard on that and also we're going to be very proactive in working on a comprehensive long term plan to help our quality of life in the city and deal with safety and crime. Those are our two major priorities going into this year"
Dunn was elected in 2007 and lost by a close margin, but not close enough for a run-off.
One other new member to the City Council is Dennis Mitchell, who won the At-Large seat.
Rose Glover beat out her competitors for the District 2 seat.
Calvin Mercer, Marion Blackburn and Kandi Smith, remain on the board.
