Suspects Accused Of Stealing $100,000 In Copper From Progress Energy

Two men are accused of stealing $100,000 worth of copper from Progress Energy facilities in several North Carolina counties and then selling it for scrap in Virginia.

Douglas Wood Junior, 35-years-old of Bailey in Nash County, and 31-year-old Danny Denton of Bunn in Franklin County, are both charged with seven counts of felony larceny in Nash County, and one count in Franklin County.

They face additional charges in those counties and charges in Halifax, Wake, and Northampton Counties.

Wood was already serving probation on a charge of stealing copper from Progress last year.
