Deputies confirm they found meth components in a home where there was an explosion last night.

Lenoir County Sheriff Chris Hill says Chad Williams was injured, suffering first and second degree burns to his legs. The Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill says Williams is in serious condition.

The initial call of an explosion came in around 10:15 Monday night at 743 Tully Hill Road in the Sandy Bottom area, just south of Kinston.

Hill says there were five people in the home at the time of the explosion. The fire in a bedroom was quickly contained and deputies as well as SBI agents are working to safely neutralize hazardous materials found inside.

The sheriff says the home is rented by Gary Taylor, who was at the home.

Hill says this is the third known meth explosion in Lenoir County in the past five years.

Right now no one has been arrested, but the sheriff says those will happen in the coming days.
