Credit Union Robbery Suspect Linked To 2012 Holdup

The New Bern Police Department has released the name of the suspect, who they say held up a credit union on Tuesday.

Police have arrested Tyrone Williams in connection with the crime. He's been charged with common law robbery.

Officers say the 28-year-old held up the First Flight Credit Union on the 3100 block of MLK Boulevard. It happened around 9:45 Tuesday morning.

Police say further investigation resulted in Williams being charged in connection with another robbery from 2012.

New Bern Police say Williams was involved in the armed robbery at Dollar General on July 24, 2012, where two store employees were shot.

Williams is being held in the Craven County Jail under a $1 million bond. His first court appearance is set for Wednesday.

Police say the robber ran from the bank toward the Walmart. They were able to box him in just past the Books-A-Million. The suspect's name has yet to be released.
