A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7am on Saturday for Beaufort, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Outer Banks Dare, Tyrrell, Washington and western Dare County. The threats are black ice and slick roadways.
A cold front pushed off the North Carolina coast late Monday taking clouds and showers along with it. Drier and much cooler air will filter into the area on Tuesday. Highs will reach into the middle 50s on Tuesday afternoon with north winds at 10 to 20 mph making it feel a bit cooler. Temperatures will drop to near freezing by sunrise Wednesday.
After another cool day on Wednesday, warmer air will take afternoon highs back into the 60s late in the week. The next chance for showers will arrive on Saturday.
