A powerful storm system over the central U.S. will move slowly eastward this week bringing plenty of showers and warm, muggy air to eastern Carolina.
Scattered showers and storms will develop Monday afternoon across the area continuing into the evening hours with muggy highs in the mid 70s.
We will continue to see a good coverage of showers and storms Tuesday through Thursday, with the better coverage primarily during the afternoon and evening hours. Highs in the low 80s on Tuesday and Wednesday will increase the chance for a few severe storms to develop during the afternoon hours.
The storm system and it's associated showers and storms should move off the coast on Friday with much quieter weather moving in over the weekend.
