Students At South Greenville Elementary Get Ipads

South Greenville Elementary in Pitt County became the first public school in Pitt County to get ipads for every student in the classroom.

A special graduation style ceremony was held at the ECU campus Friday for students from South Greenville elementary as they received their own ipads in the classroom.

Vice principal Timothy Longest says the school requested to have ipads for each student last year and were chosen by the central office last spring to be the first school to test them out in the classroom. He says they received a technology coach for one year to help train the teachers and help the students adjust to the new teaching tool.

Teachers say students will not be allowed to take the ipads home and will still use pencil and paper for homework, but say the goal is to eventually have other schools in Pitt County have ipads for every student in the classroom.
