Strawberry Farmers Happy About Colder Weather

A mild winter has helped strawberry plants flourish this year but some farmers say they hope February's weather is more seasonal to help slow growth.

Strawberry plants are already blooming in the east, a bit ahead of schedule. Clayton Garner of Garner's Farm in Newport says he was glad to see the cold forecast for the weekend because he wants his plants to go dormant so they don't keep producing blooms they could lose in a late frost.
