Stormy Friday With Lightning Strikes & Flooding

Thunderstorms across the east Friday dumped quite a bit of rain on some communities as lightning lit up the skies.

We had reports of flooding in Ayden & Winterville in Pitt County with several feet of standing water in some locations.

There were also numerous lightning strikes, some causing some damage.

We got one picture from Kevin Stueber in Stella in Carteret County of a tree hit by lightning. He says, "I was standing in our kitchen and the blast was so strong it blew my ears out and a shock wave came through the stove vent and almost knocked me over."

We could see some lingering storms into the overnight and more pop up over the weekend.
