Stolen Jewelry Lands Man In Jail For At Least Four Years

A man looking to make some fast cash is going away for a few years.

Craven County District Attorney Scott Thomas says 28-year-old Amos Davenport of New Bern pleaded guilty to felony larceny and was sentenced to between 4 and 6 years in prison.

Over a weeks time in November 2013, Thomas says Davenport stole jewelry from a home that he was working at as part of a repair crew. Thomas says Davenport then pawned the items off at a local pawn shop.

Some of the jewelry was recovered and pawn shop records identified Davenport as the one responsible. The case was investigated by New Bern police.
