Special Olympians Compete At Washington High School

Nearly 200 athletes across two Eastern Carolina counties came together Wednesday to compete and have some fun at the Special Olympics Spring Games.

The Beaufort-Hyde Special Olympics took place Wednesday morning at Washington High School.

WITN's Dave Jordan was Master of Ceremonies while Lindsey Fry took the plunge at the dunking booth.

Events included track and field and activities for younger kids.

While the games were competitive, many say they were there to have fun.

In addition to the organizers from Special Olympics, many volunteers came together to help make the games possible.
