Lenoir County Sheriff Chris Hill says deputies tracked down the man who was the subject of a manhunt Monday which caused a modified lockdown of a school.

Sheriff Hill said in a press release late Tuesday night that Jaquez Herring was taken into custody by probation officers and deputies Tuesday afternoon on US 258 south of Kinston.

Deputies were searching for the man they say violated his probation Monday near South Lenoir High School and asked that the school be put on lockdown. It was on modified lockdown during the manhunt, which means classes continued as usual, but the doors were kept locked.
