Small Gift Makes Big Difference In Craven County Man's Life

A man who walks an hour and forty minutes to his doctor appointments is given a small gift that will make a big difference.

Frank Cuthrell lives 7 miles outside of Vanceboro. He suffers from Osteoarthritis in his spine, but walks hours just to buy groceries and attend his appointments.

That's up until two weeks ago when his doctor at CarolinaEast Primary Care told the hospital's foundation, which bought him a new bike.

Cuthrell says it now takes him 30 minutes to get to town and that his back is actually feeling better.

"I was overjoyed. I was so excited I didn't know what to think," says Cuthrell. "I couldn't stand it. I was just tickled to pieces that so many people would come together and God would bless me with it."

The CarolinaEast Foundation says they use 100% of donations to give wheelchair ramps, gas cards and other gifts to patients. This year alone, they say they've helped over 300 people.
