NEW INFO: Six Middle School Students Charged After Lewd Video Gets On Facebook

Six middle school students have been charged after deputies say they recorded a lewd video at the school and shared it on a social media site.

Halifax County deputies charged Keon Manning of Roanoke Rapids with felony conspiracy and communicating threats. Manning, who is 16, and five other juveniles have been charged in the case.

Sgt. Christopher Scott says the video, which was recorded in February, was then shared on Facebook. The video features one person, who is a male under the age of 16. None of the suspects in the case appear on the video, according to Sgt. Scott.

The warrant does not list what school this happened at, and Sgt. Scott was unwilling to share that information Wednesday morning. On Friday, Weldon City Schools confirmed Keon Manning and the victim were students in their system.

The warrant did say the recording was done in secret using a cell phone.

Sgt. Scott says Manning also threatened the victim after the video was recorded, leading to the charge of communicating threats. Scott confirmed that the 16-year-old Manning was a student at the same middle school.

One of the juveniles is charged with disseminating lewd images for posting the video to Facebook. The other four are charged with felony conspiracy. All of the suspects and the victims are students at the same middle school.

Manning was arrested Tuesday and processed at the Halifax County jail. He has an April 2nd court date.
