A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7am on Saturday for Beaufort, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Outer Banks Dare, Tyrrell, Washington and western Dare County. The threats are black ice and slick roadways.
Calmer weather is on tap for Saturday.
Showers will be ending by 9am giving way to partly cloudy skies by the early afternoon.
Highs Saturday will be in the 60s, with a north wind at six to 13 miles per hour.
Saturday night, expect mostly clear skies. It will be chilly, with lows in the 40s.
Highs Sundays will also be in the 60s.
Temperatures will gradually increase into the 70s by the end of the week.
