Shoppers Buy Local

First there was Black Friday, then Cyber Monday, and for the past few years people have supported the small shop movement for Small Business Saturday.

The streets of downtown New Bern were filled with shoppers looking for gifts inside locally owned shops.

The small day has grown into a very popular movement that millions of individuals, businesses and communities have embraced nationwide. It was started by American Express in November of 2010 and has grown every year ever since.

Local business owners like Jan Francoeur of Carolina Creations appreciate and rely on this day, and local shoppers are glad to help.
