Retailers are hoping you stay in the shopping mode Saturday and focus on small business instead of the bigger retailers.
Saturday is "Small Business Saturday," and those stores are hoping it will mean big business for them. They're hoping that holiday shoppers shop local.
Small Business Saturday was first started in 2010, ironically by big business. American express conceived and first promoted the idea.
Beth Epperson is the manager for Next Best Thing in Jacksonville and says the Saturday promotion is a good idea following Black Friday. "We usually don't get the initial business because most people are out looking for electronics, and bigger toy items. We do get business prior to the sales, and then of course on Saturday we'll have a lot more sales come here."
When Monday rolls around and people head back to work, it is "Cyber Monday," when people do more shopping online looking for deals.
