Sequester Impacts For North Carolina

President Barack Obama is telling the nation's governors "at some point we've got to do some governing," rather than "careening from manufactured crisis to manufactured crisis."

At a White House meeting Monday, he told the governors the automatic spending cuts due to be triggered Friday can be averted with "just a little bit of compromise."

Unless Congress acts, $85 billion in cuts will go into effect Friday.

What does this mean for residents in North Carolina?

According to the White House up to 1,300 disadvantaged and vulnerable children could lose access to child care.

3,550 fewer children could receive vaccines for due to reduced of funding for vaccinations.

Head Start and early education programs could be eliminated for 15 hundred kids.

As for the military community, at Marine Corps Air Station-Cherry Point
the aircraft depot maintenance could be canceled.

22,000 Civilian Department Of Defense jobs could be furloughed to reduce gross pay by $117.5 million.
