Former Employee, 2nd Suspect Charged With Ayden Business Armed Robbery

Update: Friday night the second suspect, Indo Eure, 21, has been arrested and charged in the armed robbery in Ayden.

Eure is charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon; discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle; Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill; as well as, Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Friday afternoon, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigations and the US Marshal’s Eastern Regional Task Force, arrested Martise Bright, 21, of Grifton in connection with Wednesday’s armed robbery in Ayden.

Bright is charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon; discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle; and Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He is in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. Bright is a former employee of the company.

On January 9, two armed and masked suspects overpowered the two employees inside Jones & Smith Contractors, 1588 NC 102 east, actually hitting one on the head. They demanded money and gun shots were fired.

Bright and Eure are both charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Eure is also charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon.

Two workers were in the building when it was robbed Wednesday right after it opened for business. One of the suspects was carrying a gun and used it to strike an employee across the face. They got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Law enforcement officers across Pitt County are looking for two masked men who robbed a business this morning.

Officials say it happened at Jones & Smith Contractors on Highway 102 in Ayden. The Pitt County Sheriff's Office is on the scene to investigate. Deputies say the robbery happened around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Officials report two workers were in the business when two black men, both wearing masks, went in and robbed it. At least one of the suspects had a gun, possibly a Glock-style handgun. One of the workers was pistol-whipped across the face with a handgun according to the owner. That worker has minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital, according to law enforcement.

The robbers took cash and left in a gold or champagne Infiniti, headed toward Grifton.
