NEW INFO: Missing Harnett County Man Found Safe

Police in Dunn said the silver alert for a missing Harnett County man has been canceled now that he has been found safe.

Officials in Dunn said 36-year-old John Jenkins Howard was found in good health Wednesday night, but would not release any further details about how he was found or where.

A Silver Alert had been issued for Howard around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.


The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for a missing endangered man from Harnett County, 36-year-old John Jenkins Howard.

Police have not released a photo of Howard. He is described as 5' 10," 170 pounds, with short brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen at 701 E. Broad St. in Dunn wearing blue jeans and a blue long sleeve shirt. Police say he might be headed to a convenience store in the area.

He is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment. Anyone with information about Howard should call the Dunn Police Department at 910-892-2345.
