SILVER ALERT: Missing Halifax Teen Found Safe

A missing teenager from Halifax County has been found safe.

A statewide Silver Alert was issued for 18-year-old William Mahoney early Friday morning.

Deputies say the teen was spotted by a motorist walking on Roanoke Avenue and notified authorities.

They say Mahoney went for a bike ride down the Roanoke Canal Trail Thursday and damage to his bicycle left him stranded overnight.

Authorities are searching for a missing teen they think could be in danger.

A Silver Alert was issued early Friday morning for 18-year-old William Mahoney. He was last seen riding a blue and white bike on Brigman St. in Roanoke Rapids. He was said to be wearing blue jean shorts, a dark blue shirt, a blue backpack with yellow writing and glasses.

Authorities provided a fuzzy picture of Mahoney and describe him as white, 5' 9", 130 pounds with brownish-blonde hair and brown eyes.

According to the alert, Mahoney suffers from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.
