Rocky Mount USPS Plant To Close

Your snail mail is going to take a much longer trip to get to where it's going when a local postal service processing plant moves its operations out of eastern North Carolina.

The US Postal Service plant in Rocky Mount will soon close.

According to one worker at the plant, some people will lose their jobs.

Beyond the walls of the post office, it also means many in the east will likely have to wait longer on both the sending and receiving ends of the mail.

The plant in Rocky Mount will close by January, and all mail will head to Raleigh.

A spokeswoman from USPS said it is necessary to save nearly $6 million.
