Rocky Mount Murder Suspect Arrested Seven Years Later

The U.S. Marshals said the search for an accused killer who shot a man on a bicycle seven years ago In Rocky Mount is over.

Rocky Mount Police said on Tuesday, August 28th of 2007, 20-year-old Matthew Parker was riding his bicycle near Rex Street and Old Wilson Road. Around 5 p.m. that evening, police said Cameron Parker (no relation to the victim) also rode up on a bicycle and shot the 20-year-old.

Since that August night of 2007, police have had a first-degree murder warrant in Cameron Parker's name but had not been able to find him and serve it. However, police said a tip to Crime Stoppers changed that this week.

On Wednesday, officers said the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force worked with the Greenville Emergency Response Team to track down Parker in Greenville.

He has been put in jail for that first-degree murder charge, and is currently being held at the Edgecombe County Jail without bond.
