According to Morehead Police, a suspect assaulted a clerk at Murphy U.S.A. gas station on Highway 24 and took small amount of cash around 11:15 Saturday night. Morehead police say they put out a description of the vehicle.

We're told from that point Havelock Police initiated the chase of the suspect.

According to the Pamlico County Sheriff's Office, they assisted in the chase as well.

Authorities with Pamlico County say the chase ensued on Highway 55 East going into Pamlico, and the suspect was apprehended in Grantsboro near the intersection of Highway 305 and Highway 55 East around Bojangles and the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.

We've put out calls to the Havelock Police Department for more details about the chase but haven't heard back, yet.

Morehead police say the Craven County jail is where the suspect was being held as of Saturday night. The suspect faces a number of charges in at least two counties.
