On and off quick downpours will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Heavier rain could bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain to a few locations late Sunday and into Monday afternoon.
Onslow County Emergency Services says high water is causing traffic troubles around the area Monday morning.
The following spots have high water:
-Sand Ridge and Old Sand Ridge Roads near Bear Creek and Sand Ridge
-Mill Creek Road/Belgrade Swansboro at Main Street at the loop road
-Hammocks Beach Road from Park Place to Holly Hill Court
-Highway 24 in Swansboro
-Swansboro's Holly Lane in front of Sanders Ford on West Corbett Ave
-Queens Haven/Pond Drive
-Smith Road at Silverdale Elementary

Officials remind you that six inches of flowing water can carry an adult away. Twelve to 18 inches of flowing water can sweep a vehicle away. They recommend you follow the rule of "Turn around, don't drown" when you come across high water.
