Town Flushes New Sewer Plant Fee

People in one Eastern Carolina community fought town hall...and won.

So many residents of River Bend voiced their opposition to the town's proposal for a new sewer plant that the town council last night voted to discontinue the project.

Homeowners already connected to the sewer system would have been assessed $4,500, while those on septic tanks would have been charged $10,000 to connect.

At the meeting, some 330 people showed up, and an overwhelming number of people spoke out about it.

Town Manager Drew Havens says the town is now rethinking it's next options.
